The Type AB ferroelectric capacitors are designed to work with the Radiant EDU and the Radiant HOBBYIST Ferroelectric Testbench. They are also excellent for use in experimental circuits. The capacitors are packaged in a four-pin TO-18 transistor-type header with capacitors of identical area in each package. The capacitors have a thickness of ~2500 Ångstroms, saturate a 5 volts, and will withstand 9 volts continuous. These capacitors have platinum electrodes so they do fatigue and age strongly.
RC1-166A 4mm Sensor Die
The RC1-166A sensor die has a 4mm x 4mm PZT capacitor with strong piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties. The die does not have a package and can be soldered or glued directly to a PC board. The die is 1cm long by 0.5cm wide so it is easily handled with tweezers. Since the die is not in a package, you have physical access to the top surface of the sensor capacitor and you can attach lenses, bumpers, wires, strings, levers, or other mechanical temperature or force transfer devices to the capacitor surface to achieve amazing sensitivity. The capacitor is fabricated with platinum electrodes but will not exhibit fatigue or strong ageing effects when used in a passive sensor configuration.
