RJ1-RC1 EDU Sensor Board

The EDU Sensor Board is sensitive current amplifier integrated with a 4mm Sensor Die on a PC board with a useful geometry. It connects directly to the OSC port on the EDU from which it receives power and to which it returns the amplified signal from the sensor capacitor. The EDU control panel provides access to oscilloscope software which operates the Sensor Board. The components on the board are surface mount and can be easily removed or replaced to modify the circuit. As delivered, the Sensor Board has a 4.2 second RC time constant for signal decay with a 220pF sense capacitor. The EDU Oscilloscope software has tools for compensating signal decay, allowing measurements as long as 15 minutes with the 220pF sense capacitor.

The 4mm Sensor Die is mounted on the board in such a way that you have physical access to the top surface of the sensor capacitor. The board also has grounded mounting holes for placing the sensor inside a housing or on a frame. The connection to the EDU uses standard 6-wire telephone cable.

RC1 Sensor Die Mount

The RC1 Sensor Die mount is a PC board with the solder pads for the 4mm Sensor Die and the form factor of a 300mil 14-pin dip package. It provides a convenient platform with which to connect the 4mm Sensor Die to other circuits or mechanical fixtures. The mount has a 4mm x 4mm hole in its center to provide access to the top surface of the sensor capacitor.

EDU Project Board

The EDU Project Board is designed for building a custom circuit with ferroelectric components and testing it with the EDU. The board is 3.2" x 2.5" with ringed solder holes on 0.1" centers. Each board has sites in the corners for up to four surface mount operational amplifiers as well as two RF11 sockets. One of the sockets may be connected to either the EDU OSC or EDU I2C connectors. The second socket can be used to daisy chain project boards together. The RC1-166A 4mm sensor die may be mounted on the EDU Project Board using the RC1 Sensor Die Mount.
