This page includes links to download updates to existing Vision 4.x.x installations. The links on this page will not perform a new Vision installation and will not update a Vision 3.2.x installation. A series of self-extracting executables overwrites existing files. The main program is always updated by the Vision4.exe file. Program Tasks are updated as indicated in the Tasks Update table. Often the entire suite of Tasks may be updated using the AllTasks.exe link. Individual Tasks may be updated as indicated in the table. Vision driver files are updated using the UPDATE_DRIVER.exe link and either the UPDATE_XP_VISTA or UPDATE_2000 link. This page should be checked regularly for links that are newer than the customer's most-recent update.

Details

This section contains various notes regarding the updates. It may include additional actions that are required in an update. Links to updates appear in the following sections.

Users who are updating from Version 4.1.x to Version 4.2.7 or later must move several files from their present location to the C:\DataSets folder, where the program looks for them. The files include:

C:\xplorerdb.cpu or C:\Program Files\Radiant Technologies\Vision\xplorerdb.cpu. This is the file that maintains the list of registered DataSets.

C:\Program Files\Radiant Technologies\Vision\System\Editor List.el. This file may not exist. This is the file that contains the list of Tasks that are to be reloaded in the Editor on Vision startup if the reload Editor option is selected in the Tools menu.

C:\Program Files\Radiant Technologies\Vision\System\Settings.bn. This file may not exist. This file tells Vision which folders and subfolders to load registered DataSets into in the DataSet Explorer window.

C:\Program Files\Radiant Technologies\Vision\System\*.UDT. These files hold the Customized Tests to be loaded into the Library's Customized Tests folder on Vision startup.

C:\Program Files\Radiant Technologies\Vision\System\Notes\*.*. These files probably don't exist. If they do, they should be moved to C:\DataSets\Notes\*.*. These files represent notes that have been added to Executed Test Definitions.
Vision 4.4.0 is released as of 9 March 2010. The update between Vision 4.3.0 and Vision 4.4.0 is primarily an internal one. These are the changes, both internal and those available to the user:
- Vision Tasks are now stored and distributed with a *.VLR extension. Files with a *.VLD extension will now be ignored by Vision. Many Task file names have also been adjusted to better reflect the Task name.
- A Documents Library window has been added to the right side of the Vision framework window. By default the window is located at the bottom, just beneath the Tasks Library, which has been moved up to the center of the set of windows.
- In exporting Tasks that produce data, including Measurement Task and most Filter Tasks, to a text file the user is provided a Format for Viewing and Format for Importing (Tabs) set of options. In Format for Viewing mode, tabs are inserted to make values align visually. In Format for Importing, single tabs are placed between each column of values to allow importing programs such as Microsoft Excel to properly align the columns.
- Help pages have been brough up-to-date through the Step-by-Step help. Task-specific help still lags the program.

It may be a practical idea to remove all *.vld files from C:\Program Files\Radiant Technologies\Vision\System.

Nesting Branch UPDATE :

The update from Vision 4.2.6 to 4.2.7 primarily introduces a feature called Nested Branch Loop Reset. This feature makes using the Nested Branch Loop Task more intuitive and practical. This PDF provides a brief discussion of the feature. The example Test Definition cited in the PDF is presented in the Nested Branch Loop DataSet, that can be downloaded and registered into Vision for review and modification for use. This document continues to apply to Vision 4.3.0.

Vision 4.5.x UPDATE :

You MUST also perform the All_Tasks and Stop update in the table below. You MUST also perform the Windows XP & Vista=>5/24/10 or Windows 2000=>5/24/10 updates at the bottom of this page.

4.5.0 introduces an Automated Trouble Report under the Help->Trouble Report menu.

UPDATE all LIBRARY Tasks:

Check this location frequently for updated Tasks.

NOTE: The current version of the Vision program is 4.4.2. Tasks are independent agents loaded by Vision. Each Task has an independent version number 4.4.x, where x ranges from '0' upwards. Please do not confuse Task version with the program version. However, as of 9 March 2010,. with the release of Vision 4.4.0, all Tasks have had their version numbers reset to 4.4.0.

Thermal Controller DLLs	12/17/09	Minor - Critical for Quantum 6000 and for Oxford ITC503	N/A	This update writes all thermal controller DLLs to C:\Program Files\Radiant Technologies\Vision\System\TC. However, it only updates the Quantum 6000 and Oxford ITC503 thermal controller DLsL. This update must be performed for users of the either of these thermal controllers.. The DLL previously released on this site will not control those instruments.
REX-Fx00 DLL	1/06/10	Minor - Critical for REX-Fx00 (or NTC-1700/NTC-2000) thermal controller users	N/A	This corrects errors in the REX-Fx00 thermal controller DLL that prevented control of the instrument. This also applies to users who operate the NTC-1700 or NTC-2000 thermal controller. This change is not incorporated in the Thermal Controller DLLs download, above. It should be performed after that update.

Note for Users with Multiple Logins:

Upgrade Old LC to Vision V4.0:

If you have a Precision LC or Precision SC dated before June 2004, the firmware in your USB Interface Board will not communicate with Vision V4.0 Download the following ZIP file to a new folder on your disk, "C:\LC_Upgrade", and unzip it. Instructions and tools will be in that folder.
